Pen-Y-Lan is situated at the head of a bucolic valley, in the centre of its 500-acre estate, which straddles the English/Welsh border – indeed Shropshire is at the bottom of the hill and across the river.  The house was originally built in 1690 by one of the founders of Lloyds bank, though as Quakers they suffered extreme persecution in Wales and moved to Birmingham in 1689, so I suspect the house was more a rural retreat or symbolic connection as the family’s main homes were in and around Birmingham.  The house was then sold to the Holloway family in 1849, where it has been passed down through the generations to the current owner, Emma Holloway.

Come and investigate this magnificent statly home where history runs through its walls. Still a home to the Holloway family, they have fabulously agreed to us investigating their family home where they report much activity.

This is a delightful building filled as if in a fairytale with dark cellars , passageways into the walls , current and historic stable blocks not forgetting the tunnel from the cellar into the woods.

This will not be for the faint hearted - a truly magical building steeped in experiences and history , with reported polterguiest activity.

Join the SSPI team with a ghostly supper held in the beautiful but eerie dining room followed by a workshop to help you begin your understanding of the night and investigation skills. Then we begin... where? Will you have something thrown to you? Will you hear children? This venue is rural... you will not want to run out into the grounds...
